Nail trends for spring and summer 2017

Now the sun has finally started making an appearance, it’s time to look ahead for inspiration to update your gel nails this spring and summer. As ever, the catwalk and bloggers across social media are full of fantastic ideas to ramp up your look. Below we’ve listed some of our favourite trends for the season ahead.

Bejewelled nails

As seen on the Libertine catwalk – nails bedecked with jewels, hanging trinkets and bindi-like sticker detailing made a huge statement on the models. Remember the pierced nail trend in the 90’s? Kim Kardashian recently tried out the look adorning her nails with chains. The Libertine look goes much further than the previous trend with colour clashes and mixed materials being the focus.

Summer prints

One of our favourite Brit nail bloggers, ‘One Nail to Rule Them All’ recently posted a beautiful pastel, floral number she created after taking inspiration from Pinterest [http://www.onenailtorulethemall.co.uk/]. Another place we love for inspiration is ‘Goldfish Kiss’, especially her tropical pineapple creation here [http://goldfishkiss.com/post/60402990682/pineapple-toes-zoya]! The prints and colours are perfect as we transition into the warmer months.

Half moon

On the Sachin & Babi catwalk, half-moon nails took centre stage. Create the half-moon look with one coat of two colours across the whole nail; a neutral colour works well on the base with a deep colour such as a wine-red or a royal purple layered over the top. Swipe the darker colour on the top quarter of the nail for the half-moon effect.

Line out

Oval nails are set to stay through the spring/summer season but have been given an update with a thin contrasting colour line. As seen on the catwalk at Cushnie Et Ochs, pale oval nails were given an uplift with a thin black line painted between the nail and the tip. The thin line gives a subtle, arty texture which is a great update for the new season.

Whether ready to try out the floral or pineapple print or think a subtle half-moon is more your style, our range will suit all designs.
